Rothienorman
School currently has six classes from nursery to primary seven. In
rural schools in Aberdeenshire it is the norm to have composite
classes. (A class made up of more than one stage e.g. P2/3.) Composite
class arrangements are decided upon by the head teacher following
Aberdeenshire Council Policy and Guidelines.
Maximum class sizes are also in line with council policy. The maximum
number of children in a composite class is 25. The average class size
at Rothienorman School is 20.
Class teachers are supported by auxiliary and specialist members of
staff. Some of our specialist staff include additional support for
learning staff, speech and language therapists, psychological services,
social workers including pupil and family support workers, hearing
impairment support staff, English as an additional language support
staff, play therapists, counsellors, expressive arts staff, ICT staff
and health service support staff.
